Breast Screening

The power of an ultrasound can increase the detection of breast cancer from approximately 48% to 97%, particularly in women with dense breasts.

Ultrasound screenings are capable of detecting cancers that cannot be found by mammography and physical exams alone. Sometimes mammograms and physical exams just are not enough, particularly in women with dense breasts.

About

Breast Ultrasound Screenings in a population-based approach, aim at identifying disease in people who are seemingly healthy, as well as to educate and create awareness. Breast ultrasound screenings offer the benefit of Early Detection, potentially identifying breast abnormalities at a stage where treatment options are more effective and less invasive. Breast Ultrasound Screenings use ultrasound technology to screen both breasts, and the axilla area (under the arm).

Diagnostic Breast Ultrasounds are used to establish the presence or nature of disease and to distinguish from other possible health conditions. A Diagnostic Breast Ultrasound is a targeted exam that focuses on further evaluation of breast abnormalities detected through a mammogram, physical exam, or a Breast Ultrasound Screening.

**Please note, Coast Ultrasound does not diagnose.  If there are any significant findings noted by the Board Certified Radiologist on your completed report, you will be recommended to follow up with your Primary Care Dr. or OB/GYN for further diagnostic testing.

***If you are already under the care of a physician for breast cancer, it is best that you continue your follow-up care with that physician.
